Perfect Patience

I was always taught that Patience is a virtue, and as cliché as this saying might be it is very true. It's a saying that has been revered by pastors, mothers and teachers. Lack of patience can ruin lives and relationships. It can cause people to lose their homes, job as well as themselves. I was prompted to write this when a coworker had to push me through one of my calls at work. A customer was calling in to purchase a warranty and there was an issue with their payment information. I had to try 3 times before the sale was finalized. Can you believe that I huffed and puffed and thought about giving up a sale because I was being sooo impatient?! Ridiculous, I know. Sales are important to my job, so how crazy could I be to wants to give up?

Galatians 5:23-22 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This scripture basically sums up what characteristics we are supposed to possess as Christians. I'm not sure if anyone there is who has mastered all of them. Some might struggle with one or more. To be completely honest, I struggle with more than one. The greatest struggles for me are Long-suffering with is Patience

I am a mother of an almost 3 year old and he is the most impatient being on the earth, lol. He's a child so he doesn't understand the importance of waiting. It's his candy and he wants it now! My boyfriend and I constantly find ourselves telling our babies that "patience is a virtue". His favorite line is, "patience son". We try to teach our children that not everything in life will happen when they want it to.

I have always struggled with patience. I'm not where I want to be in life. I haven't received my college degree. I don't make the money I want to make. I'm not walking in my purpose. I lost my home a few years ago and my sanity went along with it. I stayed in shelters, with my mom and other people. I didn't have any peace, and my patience was wearing very thin.

I got tired of waiting for my own. I was working hard for it. I knew it would come but I was trying to rush God because I was always in my feelings. I paid more attention to what my eyes saw than what my Spirit felt. It caused me a lot of unnecessary sleepless nights, tears and stress. It really used to bother me to see other people with their dream jobs and car. I envied people who were walking in their purpose. I pray for God to reveal my purpose, but I'm no longer stressed about it. I can wait and do his will in the mean time.

Lack of patience, of course, is not of God and Satan will use it to deter you from fulfilling his perfect will. He wants to control your life and stop you from developing patience.

James 1:2-7 NKJV My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Don't let what's in front of you stop you from being patient. God will supply all of you needs. He will place you in the purpose He has for your life. You might not end up with the Benz you've always wanted. It might not even be in His Will for you to obtain a college degree, but know that God's favor is greater than anything that man comes up with. Just think about His disciples! What's for you is for YOU. Sometimes, you just have to wait, because maybe God doesn't feel like you are ready to accept what He has for you. Rest and let God be God, because your time will surely come.
